Our Mission — Colombian Volunteer Ladies, Inc.

History

Founded in Washington, 1968

Colombian Volunteer Ladies was founded in Washington by Lucía Holguín de Vázquez, wife of the UN ambassador, with the goal of helping hospitals, foundations and charitable organizations by sending financial support and hospital equipment.

Chapters were established in Atlanta, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, Bogotá, London and Miami. The Miami chapter became independent in 1971 and opened its Weston chapter in 2001.

Accredited as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, tax-exempt and registered with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of the State of Florida.

Areas of impact

We focus our help where it is needed most

We support institutions dedicated to caring for the disabled, children and elderly without resources, soup kitchens, abused women and children, education and rehabilitation of abandoned children, and youth with drug addiction problems.

Education, rehabilitation and care for children in situations of abandonment. Soup kitchens, shelters and family reintegration programs.

Renovation and repair of nursing homes, provision of medicine, food and essential supplies.

Donation of wheelchairs, medical equipment and support for specialized institutions.

Immediate financial assistance for emergencies in Colombia, Central and South America.
